Lockdown: Taxi Driver Who Stripped Naked Over Impounded Car in Abuja Sentenced to Six Months Imprisonment

A taxi driver, Emmanuel Imhoudu, who stripped naked after his vehicle was impounded by security operatives enforcing lockdown directives in Abuja, was sentenced to six months in prison by Abuja magistrate court.

Imhoudu in a video posted online by AIT, go naked in protest of the seizure of his car by the FCT COVID-19 Enforcement Team.

When arraigned before the court, he was found guilty of three-count charges and was sentenced to serve two months in prison for each of the three-count charges against him, totally six months Imprisonment.

Alternatively, he is to pay N10,000 fine on each of the counts filed against him and also make a public apology on any television network.

Imhoudu had said during his naked protest that he is married with kids and needed more to feed his family. Adding that he cannot be lockdown without food for his family, hence, he went out to hustle because “hunger virus is worse than coronavirus.”
