Army Arrest Soldiers that Threatened to Rape, Molest Women in Warri

The Nigerian Army, Friday night said it has arrested the two soldiers behind a viral video that threatens unleashing mayhem, rape and infect women in Warri, Delta State with HIV AIDS over Thursday’s attack on military personnel during a protest by youths against the killing of one Joseph Pessu.

Mr. Joseph Pessu was killed by soldiers that were enforcing coronavirus lockdown directives issued by the state government.

Citizenscourt gathered that the Force Headquarters via its verified twitter handle condemned the soldiers for their uncouth and threat laced language on the viral video. Adding that the soldiers have been arrested in Lagos.

The statement reads, “Soldiers in a viral video using uncouth and uncivilized language purportedly threatening to molest women in Warri Delta State were arrested at 9 Brigade Ikeja Military Cantonment Lagos State today 3 April 2020 and further investigation is ongoing.

“The general public should be assured that the investigations will be swift and fair in accordance with applicable military laws. The outcome of the investigations will determine the most appropriate disciplinary measures that can be taken in the circumstances.

“The Nigerian Army wishes to reiterate that it would not tolerate any form of irresponsibility and indiscipline on the part of any of its personnel.”

The statement of the soldiers in the viral video had incited the public that has been condemning the unprofessional conduct and calling for the arrest and punishment of the officers to serve as deterrent to others who would want to follow such ungodly path tomorrow.
